Well, it's official! Stacy started her chemo today. She had her port put in last week and was pretty sore from that and today she was under the impression that she was going for a 2nd consult with the chemo doctor, but while she was there they decided to go ahead with her first treatment. She was actually glad to at least get started, but was a little disappointed that Leckey wasn't with her. He had his own doctor's appointment today (when it rains it pours) so the parents did split duty. One with each of them. :)
She did say they gave her a numbing shot before accessing the port so that part wasn't as bad as she thought at first it might be and I was glad for that. Me being (well who I am) me, I sent her a text this morning early to remind her to tell them she wanted numbing cream before they accessed her port, but she never saw my message. I talked to her on her way and told her and she was like, yeah, I will do that, but apparently they automatically gave her the shot. As long as she didn't feel much I don't care how they give it to her. :)
She is a trooper and she will be able to handle all this better than she thinks she can. All she really needs is prayers and lots of them and lift Leckey and our parents up too. This won't be an easy journey, but it's not impossible either. We will all just have to pull double duty to do our part to help out and she will be just fine.
She's been pretty good about keeping her sense of humor throughout everything so far and I just pray that continues. It's much easier to laugh about situations you can't change than to have a cry headache you can't get rid of. (yuck)
I will keep blogging while she fights through this journey if for no other reason, but to keep myself sane through it all. I need all the help I can get on a good day...
