Oh my government

I'm not one to get real political and basically because I can't keep up with all the lies and propaganda that goes on.  I'm a simple minded person and like to keep things simple.  There has been a lot of chatter about cutting lots of Army positions across all states and the latest Furlough for civilian government employees.
Obviously cutting jobs in the military makes me a little on edge.  First, many of these men and women wanted the military (regardless of the branch) to be their life career.  Taking those away in a time where finding jobs has been difficult for those coming out of college and even more difficult for those coming out of the military and you will have yourself a big 'ole helping of a mess.  You mark my word, the moment they cut military jobs we will need to ramp up our armed forces to go fight yet another war.  Again, I'm a simple minded girl, but this really does not make a lot of sense to me.
I also have close friends and family that work in civilian government jobs and to have this Furlough implemented could have a huge impact on their livelihood.  I don't want to see that happen in this already struggling economy.  So many families are just now beginning to feel a little relief and for those that will fall into this bracket their nightmare could begin again.
So here is my simple minded thoughts... I get the feeling they are making these cuts so they can keep free programs going.  Some free programs are very worth while and there are others that aren't so much.  So with all those big salaries in Washington and all the extra "benefits" they receive (some for a lifetime) you are telling us that these two cuts are necessary for our Country's deficit to improve?  I'm not buying what they are trying to sell.
First of all, these young men and women serving our country in the military make a very modest salary and in comparison to what they sacrfice and risk they are in the poverty level in my opinion.  Also, the civilian government workers that would be affected by this Furlough are (for the most part) lower paying jobs.  Really?  Cutting approximately 8 hours a week for the remainder of the fiscal year is going to make that big a difference.  I have a problem with that.
I don't know what the answers are.  I guess if I am going to complain I should at least have a solution.  Well, I'm pretty sure our government officials wouldn't like my solution (it might hit a little too clsoe to home for most of them) anyway.  I just know there has to be a better way than these two options and other places/things/research that could be handled in a different/better way than having these two proposals on the table.
Let your voice be heard.  If there is anything "WE THE PEOPLE" can do then lets do it.  Please and thank you.
