So, military board wants to dismiss a Sgt in the Marine Corps, because he isn't a fan of the president of the United States. Really? Trust me, I certainly do not believe there is room for insubordination in any job and certainly not in the USMC, but him not liking the president or disagreeing with some of his decisions, should not be grounds for dismissal and stripping him of all his benefits. Do I believe the Marine Corps and other military branches have a responsibility not to do anything that would jeopardize their fellow troops? Aabsolutely! However, what this young man did with his own personal Face Book (in my opinion) did not put any of our troops in danger. He was simply voicing his opinion and most likely some frustration with his current situation and I'm sure with the current state of our country. Can you imagine how you would feel if you were receiving orders and direction indirectly from the commander in chief (who never served in the military I might add) and you can't even voice how you feel? I know for me I've not agreed with most of what President Obama says or does. I respect his position as our president, but I don't not like him and do not agree with most things he has done or said. Granted, I don't post anything about him on Face Book, but that's not my style anyway. The younger generation does everything from being angry with a spouse or friend to grieving online these days, so it's no surprise to me at all that our military men and women might take to online social networks to air their frustrations and/or opinions. I just do not believe it is a reason to strip this young man from a career that he apparently wanted to make his life's career. I've seen and heard of many other military folks that have done far worst and they are still active so why is this such a huge deal. I truly feel bad for Sgt. Gary Stein and pray this works out for the best for him. He obviously loves his job and is proud to be a Marine. Why take someone so dedicated to our country and the Corps away from something he loves so much. He strikes me as the type of Marine that would always go above and beyond to do his job and protect our nation and isn't that what we want out of all our military men and women? Thank you for allowing me to exercise my first amendment right to free speech.
